The first single off the record, “Open Book” kicks things off, and was also the first song written on “Really Good Terrible Things”. Matheos shares, “with Ray’s lyrics about ending and beginnings, it felt like a good mood to start off with.” Alder adds, “The line ‘we’re a cloud behind the moon’ is referring to the fact that we are all basically an impossibility. Yet here we are. And we will go on until we can’t. I’m speaking of inevitability.”

Open Book
Now the sunrise has begun
Tired eyes awaken
To discover that another summer’s gone
Now those days that seemed to last
Forever live in the past
And the nights grow colder, longer, darker still
Every day is just an open book
With the words flying off the pages
But no matter how those lines are written
Every story has an end
We’re a cloud behind the moon
We’re a storm that’s gone too soon
A reflection that moves so slowly it hurts
Sometimes memories are blurred
But those images occur
Like the glowing embers of bridges we’ve burned
Every day is just an open book
With the words flying off the pages
But no matter how those lines are written
Every story has an end
We stand alone
These thoughts our own
The sun has gone
Winter has come
Every day is just an open book
With the words flying off the pages
But no matter how those lines are written
Every story has an end
